BUILDING NEWS: Renovation Update August 2014 - Who's afraid of the Big, Bad Roof?
What's wrong with this picture? No it hasn't been Photoshopped...the roof truly IS missing and it's high time we get the new one on.
Another reason we want the new roof on is because it's quite strange to walk on the second floor of 10 Horse Art Center and instinctively duck down so as not to hit our heads on the low beams of the roof that USED to be there!
The new, pre-constructed roof trusses have arrived from the lumber yard and are hoisted up (manually!) to the second level and then laid down flat in position.
One-by-one the trusses are lifted into a vertical position and carefully secured to the side walls. The new roof begins to take shape.
There are only two words for this: TA-DA!
Plywood is placed across the roof trusses to form a solid cover. An inside view of the new second floor of 10 Horse at the right.
Waterproof material is placed over the plywood and the roof is ready for shingles. It's so beautiful!
